Admittedly, if you had told me back in September that my slightly impulse purchase of these shoes from Madewell would end up being one of my favorite pairs, I probably wouldn't have believed you. The story is: while waiting for the Genius Bar to fix my MacBook Pro, I wandered over to Madewell to pass the time. Fresh with a new employee discount I though I would check it out. Low and behold these shoes were over in the sales area and they caught my eye. I don't know why, but I instantly fell in love with them. [And my employee discount price sweetened the deal]
Weather permitting, I probably wear them two or three times a week [proof]. They are incredibly comfortable and are great casual or even a bit dressed up. They've only recently begun to show a bit of wear; it isn't to bad when the print rubs off, because white just shows through and it still looks like snake print.
I've contemplated lately stopping in to see if they still have a pair in size 8, they did last month when I was doing some Christmas shopping. I feel as though I need to have a back-up pair for when they finally do completely wear out, or at least a pair I can alternate with so they last longer. I love them [and wear them] far too much to picture the day I don't have them anymore.
Do you ever do that? Buy a second pair of your favorite shoes knowing they may eventually wear out?
Have a great weekend. xx.

YES. Do it!
ReplyDeleteI buy backups and same style shoes in different colors when they work:)
I'd never consider doing it for my nicer shoes that I could just have re-heeled or re-soled [i.e. my riding and ankle boots], but I've considered a number of angles and these shoes aren't something a cobbler could ever really repair. I'm sure i'll end up grabbing another pair of them, hopefully they'll still have my size.
DeleteI feel like its similar to denim, you find a pair you love and that fits perfect, so you grab another pair because it;s such a daunting task. But maybe that's me! Thanks for your thoughts! xx.
I TOTALLY buy the same jeans just to have backups too :)
DeleteAs soon as your find that perfect pair of jeans, you have to have multiple pairs. Especially if you are me and live in your jeans. xx.
Deleteyes!!! i you find some that are great get them in every wash!!!! thats the only way to do it!
DeleteEspecially since shopping for denim is my least favorite thing to shop for. [I'm not even a big fan of shopping] xx.
DeleteBeautiful shoes. I've bought shoes in as many colors as I think I'll wear, but I haven't bought "back ups." I'll just keep resoling or re-dying them as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteThanks, they are one of my favorite pairs! I've never considered purchasing back-ups till this pair. I'm like you with have them resoled, re-heeled, re-dyed etc. I do that will both my riding boots and ankle boots, as well as other similar type shoes. But I don't know if these are something that can easily be repaired; the snake print is [some how] printed onto the shoes. They could probably be resoled, granted I am not a cobbler... xx.
DeleteI totally did that with my Sam Edleman ballet flats! the best flats i have ever bought so i bought an identical black pair just incase, i can't imagine life without them lol
ReplyDeleteUnderstandable! Thats how I am beginning to feel about these. xx.
DeleteAnonymous, are you talking about the black "Candela" flats? I loved my black snakeskin-stamped Sam Edelman "Candela" flats to death. I hunted for a comparable replacement FOREVER!
DeleteHey Fatemeh, i was talking about the "Felicia" flats.. they are so great and i love them!!! i was looking at the "Candela" flats also and those are super great also! Sam Edelman makes great flats!!
DeleteWelp, I went and looked them up on Madewell. Saw a 40% off code, and ended up buying them! I'm really excited--I have a Kenneth Cole pair I love that's similar in color & style, and they're wearing thin.
ReplyDeleteHa! Well I hope you love them as much as I do. I get so many compliments on them. I love wearing them with my cropped black trousers, button-down and my heather marbled grey hoodie. But they honestly go with so much! Keep me posted. xx.
DeleteI have a pair of leopard hair-calf flats that I too have worn out. No replacement pair. Sadness. I really do wish I had bought a backup pair.
ReplyDeleteOh, I would love a pair of calf-hair leopard flats! I wish I had bought these in a back-up. Never the less I will wear them till they literally disintegrate. xx.
DeleteThey look great on you! One question, are the skimmers true to size? I am deciding between the 7.5 and 8? I am usually a 7.5 but will sometimes wear a european 8/38 if smaller fit.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
