These are my absolute favorite pair of heels and probably the most comfortable pair ever. They are from Nine West, their Andriana pump in black suede. I prefer suede heels to leather [and never patent!] and these a perfect. The first pair of heels I ever purchased were Nine West; granted they were thrifted, but they quickly became one of my favorite pairs of shoes... I wore them until they literally fell apart. From there I was sold on Nine West heels for comfort. I got these a few years ago and they have served me well. The heel height is perfect for all occasions; I have worn them to weddings, with trousers to the ballet, for industry critique and even with my denim. Plus, the heel height is ideal for comfort. I can stand for hours, dance and even walk around the city without hating the existence of my feet. I think I prefer that they are a lower high-heel than one much higher. The heel high is very flattering too. I was worried after my last pair [that happened to be the most beautiful shade of scarlet red] fell apart beyond wear, I wouldn't be able to find a suitable replacement. Thank god Nine West came to their senses and began producing simple classic high heels again. Sure, partially was due to such a heel coming back into trend- but I'm sure many of us rejoiced all the same. Needless to say, they are a wardrobe essential for years and years to come.
Do you have a favorite brand for heels? One day I would love to own a pair of simple Louboutins,
but until then my Nine Wests will suit me perfectly.
but until then my Nine Wests will suit me perfectly.
xx.

I have just purchased a pair of simple black heels that are meant to be my go-with-everything heels. They are suede as well, I find that they are much more versatile in that material. I love Nine West and wonder why I don't own more of their shoes! Yours are quite lovely and chic!
ReplyDeleteI agree, I feel suede is more versatile too! I really only have owned their heels- but I have found them to be some of the most comfortable. Thank you! xx.
DeleteNW can be hit or miss with quality/comfort. I have a few pairs of NWs myself. Those shoes look very elegant on you. And I too prefer black suede, even faux suede can still have an "expensive" look. I don't wear my heels all that much anymore, but I wear high or flat--no in between. I just can't get with kitten heels. My most reliably comfortable heels are from Kenneth Cole New York. I'll give an honorable mention to Michael Kors too (after I lined the inside).
ReplyDeleteYears ago I used to think CLs were heart stopping-ly beautiful, but now (aside from the basics) they have gotten so hideous. Not to mention that the prices of designer shoes are beyond outrageous now.
I suppose I have only ever tried their, basic, heels. I agree even faux suede can look 'expensive'- where as faux leather, more often than not, looks cheap. I can't get on the whole kitten heels either, that's why I like these- they are practical, still have a bit of height [not as high as my other heels though] without being kitten heels. I feel with them you either need to just wear flats, or step-it-up and put on a proper heel. I haven't tried on either MK or KC New York.
DeleteI completely agree- other than the basics, CL have taken such a turn for the worst [many designer shoes have] and look so tacky. Why some would pay those prices for the designs is beyond me- they are shoes!
Can't say I have any staple heels, I usually borrow them from my sisters when I need them for job interviews or formal things. I did purchase a pair from Massimo Dutti (a Spanish brand with the same owner as Zara) last year for a wedding, very pretty and comfortable. NW shoes run too narrow for me...since I have broad feet I find shoes from Witchery (an Aussie brand) really comfortable. My sister has several pairs and they're the ones I borrow the most, haha.
ReplyDeleteI find designer shoes too expensive to seriously consider investing in a pair, but I typically lust after flat shoes - like those buttery soft Lanvin flats. At the moment I'm admiring men's chukka boots from Allen Edmonds...wonder how they fit on women.
I agree that designer shoes are far too expensive to ever really consider purchasing. I could really ever justify purchasing the basic suede CL pair that I have loved for years. Mainly because I can see myself wearing them for years to come, where as most other designer shoes I feel I may grow tired of due to the fact they aren't classic looking. Those Lanvin flats are gorgeous! As for the Allen Edmonds, I don't know how they would look on women, I haven't heard much of them. I have a pair of the suede chukka/desert boots from Clarks- which I love. But I have never tried the Allen Edmonds before. They look lovely though.
DeleteA very timely post. I had been searching for about 6 months for the perfect pair of simple black suede pumps, it had to have an almond or pointy toe and at least 3 inches. There was a great pair by Boutique 9 (sister to 9 West) called the Justine but the black suede pair sold out quickly. I then turned to J Crew (the Everly pump) and my size was gone there :(. Vince Camuto also had a pretty decent version (the Kain pump) but just before I decided to buy them, I decided to check ebay for the J Crew Everly's and luckily found them, in my size, brand new & for $120!
ReplyDeleteThe clincher for me was that the J Crew Everly's had the leather lining and sole. You would think that a simple black pump is an easy find, but it really isn't. Or maybe its just me... that I'm very particular about what I want.
Oh, those Everly pumps are gorgeous! I am so glad you found them. I completely agree about having a hard time finding the perfect pump. I was terribly picky too. I like that my NW pair has the leather interior and sole too. I think you have to be particular when searching for something that you consider a 'staple', if you're going to wear it for time and time to come it should be perfect! So happy you found a pair that suits your ideals too.
DeleteLove black suede heels. Yours are really pretty and an excellent buy.
ReplyDeletePersonally I love suede and patent leather for a dressier look. Never-ever faux suede though. I just can't stand man-made materials.
For classic heels I rely on Ferragamo, CL and Manolo Blahnik. I have very narrow feet and both make gorgeous, well made shoes in a variety of widths. I have a few CLs in very timeless styles that also work well for narrow feet. NW just runs too wide for me. At a reasonable price, I have been very impressed with Corso Como shoes.
Thank you, they are one of my favorite pairs of shoes! My feet aren't wide, but they are wider then normal- I think that's why the NW fit so nicely. I love when company makes shoes in a variety of width, especially if you're going to pay a decent amount for them- you should be able to find them to fit appropriately. xx.
